Who is monarch man you might ask ? Every year, monarch butterflies complete their breeding cycles and migrate south to over-winter along the northern-California coast. Large colonies of them can usually be found from October-March at Natural Bridges State Park in Santa Cruz. The rangers at this park put on a special event, Welcome back Monarch Days with exhibits and shows put on primarily for children.
On the last day of these festivities, Monarch Man and Woman make a appearance, having " ...just come down from British Columbia ..." and entertain the children with dances and gifts of candy.
