I started cycling in 1985 as a means of transportation. I was getting ready to start my senior year in college, and working as a summer intern at a Silicon Valley company. The 10 mile commute seemed ideal for a bicycle.

My first bike was a clunker; a Sears FreeSpirit, but I logged about 2000 miles on it before it just plain gave up. It was on this bike that I overcame my first big challenge; riding from my home in Sunnyvale to Santa Cruz and back, a total of 100 miles and 5000' of climbing. This was in 1987 and I haven't looked back since.

I enjoy tooling around in the Santa Cruz mountains and the hills around Milpitas and Fremont. If you'd like to join me, send me email. I'm now a lazy slob who doesn't ride much.
