The catalog is implemented in PHP
and MySQL, with deployment and revision
control via Perforce.
Thus far, most of the photos are taken from the web places where
the specimens were offered for sale. The picture quality varies
greatly. Many specimens are still picture-less. I plan on learning to
do decent mineral photography, and eventually filling in the missing
ones, and perhaps redoing some of the present ones.
As of this writing, a skeleton, based on the very simple "page" class
from page.php is under way. Class "page" was originally written for an
unfinished project, but which has since gone on to serve as basis for
the mailing list software for the
Insight Meditation Center of
the Midpeninsula, and for the Data Domain Support web site.
