About The Collection...      Photo Credits...      Technobabble...

Are you a dealer or collector I have acquired specimens from?

Photos

If I have elected to use your photos to illustrate a specimen, I will place a copyright notice identifying your status as the copyright holder, and linking to your web site, as a way of saying "thanks" for the use of your image(s).

If you would like me to modify or omit these notices or thier links, please let me know. Likewise if you'd rather I not use your images at all.

Also, please note that I hope eventually to have photographed all of the collection myself; my use of your photos may be for a limited time.

...And More?

As my growing mineral catalog website suggests, I've been deeply afflicted with an affection for minerals for the past few years.

I feel very lucky to be able to make my catalog (and thereby, the collection) available for the enjoyment of all. But at an even more basic level, collecting is an expression of something very wonderful about the objects themselves, at a very basic level that happens to me before any cognition... Right now, working on this collection is a very happy thing for me, and I like to spend as much time as I can find with it. (I'm guessing you understand, if you are reading this!)

But, as you no doubt also understand, good mineral specimens (and web hosting!) are not free... and while time may not be money, there does seem to be a very definite relationship between the two!.

It's thus in hopes of taking my collection to the highest level I can (and enjoying the time along the way!), that I'd like to find ways for it to help subsidize itself.

I'm therefore proposing an arrangement, that would go something like this:

  • You get...

    I will arrange for information in my catalog identifying the supplier from whom I aquired a given specimen to be presented, along with a link to your website and/or email address.

    This will result in a stream of visiters to you site who are likely to be interested in buying the sort of mineral specimens you offer!

  • I get...

    In return, I hope you would find this sufficiently valuble to make a consideration to me in one of several avenues, at your option:

    1. A small per-click-through fee;

    2. A discount on my future specimens purchases from you;

    3. A discount on the price of the specimen featured;

    4. A subscription-style fee, based on the number of specimens featuring you as the supplier.

I am only beginning to explore to practicality of doing something like this, and am open to discussing the numbers and other particulars to plug in to the methods suggested above. I believe this can be a cost-effective way to direct new visitors to your website, when compared to other means of web-based advertising.

Feel free to propose other approaches that might be of interest to you. As I learn what people are most interested in, I can prepare some standardized arrangements.

Please let me know if you have any interest in pursuing such a relationship. I'm hoping we both find something of value. Thanks!
